Plantation Harvest Wattle Avenue

Harvesting operations

HQPlantations have commenced harvesting the southern pine plantation within the Rose Logging Area, located east of Wattle Avenue. We also like to apologies for late communications prior to commencement of these planned operations.

These trees were established approximately 27 years ago to supply local sawmills with timber used in a range of sustainable products, including structural timber for housing construction. Figure 1 (overleaf) shows the location of the planned harvest area.

Harvesting operations are expected to continue for approximately 18 months, although timing may vary depending on weather conditions and operational requirements. Works will generally occur between 5:00 am and 5:00 pm, Monday to Friday, and will involve the use of harvesting machinery, loaders, and timber haulage vehicles.

All haulage trucks associated with operations in the Rose Logging Area will enter and exit via Steve Irwin Way. Please be mindful of heavy vehicles turning into and out of the site during this period.

The safety of our neighbours, visitors, and contractors is our highest priority. To ensure harvesting and haulage activities can be undertaken safely and efficiently, public access will not be permitted within harvesting or re-establishment areas at any time, including weekends. Signage and barriers will be installed to clearly identify restricted areas. Further information regarding worksite safety can be found here.

Once harvesting is complete, site re-establishment activities will continue over the following 24 months to establish the next plantation crop. Maintenance of roads, tracks, and drainage infrastructure may also be undertaken to ensure safe access for future plantation management and fire protection activities.

We understand that operations of this nature may raise questions for nearby residents. We would be pleased to discuss the project with you. If you would like further information or wish to arrange a site meeting, please contact our office on (07) 5438 6666 or email beerburrum@hqplantations.com.au.
